Before sunrise this morning, thousands of guests arrived at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida to be among the first to travel to a galaxy far, far away for today’s grand opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. With growing fan excitement and cheers of joy, the park opened its gates early to surprise and delight excited guests.
At 14 acres, this is the largest and most technologically advanced single-themed land expansion ever at a Disney park. Inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests are transported to the remote planet Batuu, full of unique sights, sounds, smells and tastes authentic to the Star Wars universe. Guests become part of the story as they sample galactic food and beverages, explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard the exhilarating Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
A second anchor attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, will debut Dec. 5, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Jan. 17, 2020, at Disneyland Park in California. In the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined, guests will become part of the action during a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance in an experience that will blur the lines between fantasy and reality.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland Park in California on May 31, 2019.
