Califia and the Timeless Sentries has explored the alternative history adventures of Califia and her comrades in Episode I “Sacrifices” and Episode II “Legacies” of the exciting motion comic web series. Their adventures continue to unravel in Califia and the Timeless Sentries Episode III “Revelations” Available now on YouTube.
Califia and the Timeless Sentries explores the tale of Califia, a powerful Black warrior queen, and a team of legendary warriors known as the Sentries facing off against danger in a mysterious land where time, space, science and sorcery defy the laws of nature.
Directed by popular actor and director Rockmond Dunbar, along with veteran voice director Chris Faiella, Califia and the Timeless Sentries features a diverse ensemble of talented actors to breathe life into a lineup of diverse characters. They include Dana Gourrier as “Califia,” Stephanie Charles as “Dawn Henry,” Victoria Platt as “Sycorax,” Demetrius Grosse as “Sir Morien the Black Knight,” JB Blanc as “William Tell,” Diana Lu as “Madame Butterfly,” Nirav Bhakta as “Mowgli,” Erin Fitzgerald as “Queen Serpentine,” and Maurice Antonio as “Scion.” The supporting cast includes Timon Kyle Durrett as “Caliban,” Jay Hunter as “Mr. Herndon,” and Telma Hopkins as “Nana Henry.”
Califia and the Timeless Sentries is a proof of concept piece created, written and produced by Keith L. Underwood. “Just like the warriors featured in Califia and the Timeless Sentries, this has truly been a team effort,” says Underwood. “It really does take a Village to raise a child… and my baby has had some amazing support.” The motion comic web series was executive produced by Moe Productions along with Underwood’s UMA Worldwide.
Califia and the Timeless Sentries is co-produced by Dawn Carter, with key animation by Shawn Hawkins, original character concepts by Alejandro Gonzalez, music by Miykal Snoddy, and Ron Myrick and Dr. Darnell Hunt as consultants.
Califia and the Timeless Sentries is right on time in a moment in which the issue of diversity and social justice has moved to the forefront of our national discussion. It is very refreshing to see a Black female leading a diverse group of characters in the comic book genre space. And the message about what people from different backgrounds can do when they work together is as inspiring as it is timeless.
