Vision Films will release “Accidental Climber” from filmmaker Steven Oritt (“My Name is Sara,” “American Native”), a captivating documentary charting the journey of Sacramento, California native and climber Jim Geiger summiting Everest – a grueling endeavor, much less for a then 68-year-old who comes face to face with the worst disaster in mountaineering history.

“Accidental Climber” chronicles the summiting of Mount Everest, known as a grueling and dangerous endeavor for even the most experienced climber. The world’s highest mountain is known to torture the mind, body, and soul of those who dare to do what few have ever achieved. When 68-year-old great grandfather Jim Geiger attempts to become the oldest American to summit the peak, what ensued was the worst disaster in mountaineering history. Geiger who since beginning his epic journey climbing over 35 years ago at the age of 40 has now ascended more than 14 mountains over 6500 feet on the west coast alone, including Mount Whitney and Mount Shasta more than 22 times and Pyramid Peak in the Sierras in CA (approximately 10,000 feet in elevation) more than 100 times.
