Nashville-based alt-rock band Moon Taxi has released an acoustic version of their hit single “Hometown Heroes.” Download / stream HERE. Since its release in March, the song has taken on a deeper meaning, as frontline workers selflessly dedicated themselves to stopping the spread of COVID-19, often at great personal risk.

On Wednesday, June 24, Moon Taxi will perform an acoustic set from Nashville’s legendary Exit/In as part of ticketing company Seated’s “See You Soon” live stream series, which works with artists to support favorite neighborhood live music spots impacted during the pandemic.
In support of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), proceeds from ticket sales will be distributed to Exit/In, its staff and Moon Taxi’s band and crew. In partnership with PLUS1, proceeds will also go toward the non-profit Equal Justice Initiative, which challenges racial and economic injustices in the U.S. Tickets for the live stream, which will begin at 7:30 PM CT, are available now at https://events.seated.com/seeyousoon.
Last weekend, Moon Taxi supported another hometown business – Grimey’s New and Preloved Music & books in East Nashville – as part of Small Business Live, presented by the co-creators of Bonnaroo and Outside Lands. The globally syndicated philanthropic concert for COVID-19, which also featured performances by such artists as Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard and Leon Bridges, was seen across TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and other platforms. Moon Taxi are on the guest lineup for 2020 GRAMMY Camp, which includes OK Go, Kat Cunning, Bryce Vine, members of Plain White T’s and more. A total of 84 talented high school students from 19 states will be attending the first-ever virtual GRAMMY Camp experience. MLB Network featured “Hometown Heroes” during the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
The song is climbing at AAA radio and can be found on numerous alternative, pop and rock playlists. It is the first single from Moon Taxi’s forthcoming album on BMG. American Songwriter said, “Brilliant ukulele and indie-pop melodies clash together in the song granting radio-hit potential.” AltPress observed, “The celebratory nature of the song is so enriching, it practically promises you’ll make it through the day.”
While Moon Taxi has undoubtedly earned its place as hometown heroes in Nashville – selling out two consecutive nights at famed Ryman Auditorium and earning praise from the Tennessean (“Moon Taxi evolves from ‘college project’ to rock stars”) – the band has also built an enormous national following.
The five-piece has released five studio albums, including 2018’s Let The Record Play. “Two High,” the first single from Let The Record Play, catapulted Moon Taxi to new heights, amassing over 130 million streams on Spotify to date, topping the AAA radio airplay chart and becoming a Top 10 hit at the Alternative format.
