Nationally-touring comedians Marc Yaffee and Adam Stone will perform an online benefit comedy show Saturday, May 30 at 8pm with proceeds going to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Yaffee, and Stone, long-time friends and comedy collaborators, recently created the Kindness of Strangers Comedy Tour. With their in-person shows now postponed due to Covid-19, the two comedians are turning to the internet to share laughs and raise money.
All money raised from the show will go the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN). FBNN has seen demand skyrocket since the onset of Covid-19 restrictions. Just one dollar in donations provides three meals, so even minimal audience donations will have an outsized impact.
“I’ve volunteered at several Food Bank distribution events and saw first hand the great work Food Bank of Northern Nevada does,” says Yaffee.
Yaffee, a Sparks resident, is a co-star of the Showtime special, Goin’ Native. He currently has a Dry Bar Comedy special, Mid-Laugh Crisis, which has been viewed on social media nearly 4 million times. Stone, a regular at the Laugh Factory in Reno, has been heard on the national syndicated Bob and Tom Show and tours across the country. The pair were inspired to create the Kindness of Strangers Comedy Tour after watching the Kindness Diaries on Netflix. The duo’s long-term goal is to raise $1 million for charity with their tour.
“We are used to live audiences, so this will be a different experience for me” says Stone, “but I’m excited for the challenge as well as the opportunity to help out the Food Bank Northern Nevada.”
