Hot Water Films announced today that it is delivering quarantine audiences an early release of the highly-anticipated action-comedy movie, Hot Water, starring Trevor Donovan, Nikki Leigh, Max Adler, Glenn McCuen, Stormi Henley, Brian Combs, Yves Bright, Michael Papajohn, and Vanessa Angel on Vimeo On-Demand starting today.
“We are all going a little crazy and could use a laugh as we practice safer-at-home tactics and responsibly social distance,” said Larry Rippenkroeger, Hot Water director, writer, and four-time world champion jet skier. “We planned to release Hot Water towards the end of summer, but we recognized that people could use a little escape sooner rather than later.”
The action-comedy focuses on the trials and tribulations of Billy Burnett (McCuen), a 21-year-old screw up with a passion for becoming a champion jet skier. When a scheming friend (Adler) convinces Burnett’s parents Douglas (Papajohn) and Nancy (Angel) to send Billy on the pro tour, he enlists the help of former jet-skiing champion Jarid Harper (Donovan). The three men spend a summer trying to make waves on the jet ski circuit and encounter Kelly Weber (Leigh), her friend Summer (Henley), and an old adversary.
Hardbodies and hijinks are a big part of Hot Water, and they’re nothing new to Rippenkroeger, who was known as the Ripper back during his world championship jet-skiing days. But once he made his break as a stuntman in the Kevin Costner movie Waterworld, he was hooked. He parlayed that break into roles as Bryan Cranston’s stunt double on Breaking Bad, and then for a long run as Bruce Willis’ stunt double – for several films, including two movies in the Die Hard franchise.
A terrible injury forced Rippenkroeger to reevaluate his career path, but it also allowed him to finish his passion project – Hot Water.
“You could say after taking years of many bumps and bruises for Hollywood A-listers, I’m Hollywood-hardened to welcome the audience to our movie as writer-director,” said Rippenkroeger. “We believe Hot Water is a laugh out loud comedy that brings a much-needed smile to Americans’ faces at this time.”
Fans familiar with Donovan from his Hallmark holiday movies will be surprised to discover that the film features the actor’s first nude scene.
“There are a lot of talented athletes in this movie who take their fitness seriously, and Trevor’s fans will certainly have an eye-opening experience with Hot Water,” Rippenkroeger added. “This scene and many others throughout the movie is a bit of an homage to my old sport and to the action/comedies of the eighties that I loved so much.”
The movie is available on Vimeo On-Demand for a 24-hour rental price of $11.99 by visiting https://vimeo.com/ondemand/hotwater.
