Creative production house No Frames announced today the release of “Silk City,” the directorial debut of cinematographer Mikko Timonen.
“Silk City” tells the tale of an abandoned silk factory on its eve of destruction and the swan song of the ghosts within. Set in Paterson, NJ, the contemporary dance short film stars Elina Golde, an award-winning ballerina who became the first Finnish dancer to join the American Ballet Theatre.
Timonen, also from Finland, is one of the most in-demand music video cinematographers, working with artists such as Maluma, Nicki Minaj, and Soundgarden. His commercial credits include Mastercard, Nike and Bud Light, and he has shot two original series for YouTube and Netflix for release in 2020.
“Silk City” is choreographed by Jorma Elo, the highly-sought-after contemporary choreographer who has worked with the New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and others.
Elo trained with the prestigious Finnish National Ballet School.
