Angel Oquendo (Cars 3, House) booked a role in ABC’s new series “The Baker and The Beauty” starring Victor Rasuk (Lords of Dogtown, Fifty Shades of Grey), Nathalie Kelley (Dynasty, The Vampire Diaries) and executive producer/showrunner Dean Georgaris (Bluff City Law, The Brave).
“The Baker and The Beauty”, filmed mostly on location in Puerto Rico doubling for Miami, Florida centers on Daniel Garcia (Rasuk), who works at his family’s Cuban bakery. Daniel meets Noa Hamilton (Kelley), an international superstar and fashion icon, and his life is thrust into the limelight. Is there a trade-off between family life and fame?
Oquendo whose credits include “Major Crimes” and “Ocean’s Thirteen” was thrilled at the opportunity to work on the island he also calls home. “While many Hollywood productions are shot in Puerto Rico for our beautiful set locations, local talent and tax incentives, this was my first time filming here and it was a blast. Really great cast, awesome crew and I love the storyline.”
An Army veteran turned actor, Oquendo took a break from his acting career to help support Hurricane Irma and Maria recovery efforts with the Puerto Rico Air National Guard, and adds, “It’s a fun show with a talented, diverse cast, filmed in Puerto Rico and airing on ABC. I’m excited to be a part of ‘The Baker and The Beauty’ and I hope everyone tunes in.”
Filming on the series completed in February and features a predominately Latino cast including Carlos Gomez, Dan Bucatinsky, Lisa Vidal, Belissa Escobedo, Michelle Veintimilla and David Del Rio. “The Baker and The Beauty” premieres Monday, April 13 at 10 p.m. on ABC after the series premiere of “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart.”
