Parisalexa today shares “Chocolate,” a song she calls ‘a celebration of melanin,’ off her forthcoming project, 2 Real, coming out April 2020. Listen/watch here:
Says Parisalexa, “I wrote this song based on how I feel when I look in the mirror. I love my blackness and all the richness of culture tied to my brown skin and it deserves to be sung about. It took a long time for me to be confident in all that I am, so this is a toast to all my sisters and brothers who have arrived at the same peak. No matter where we go in life, we came from the motherland.”
Seattle’s Parisalexa (aka 21-year-old Paris Alexa Williams) creates R&B with hints of soul, jazz, and hip hop. Garnering comparisons to ’90s greats like Monica or Faith Evans, Paris has already made fans at NPR Music, Genius, KEXP, Seattle Times, HotNewHipHop, Nylon, among others, for her stunning voice.
This past fall, Paris released the first single, “2 Real,” on the heels of new tracks with Xavier Omar & Sango, Tuxedo, and an appearance on the NBC show ‘Songland.’
Parisalexa will hit the road with Xavier Omar this Friday and also play SXSW in March. Find all announced tour dates below and here.
